About the position

The Control Software Architect at Rolls-Royce is responsible for developing control software architectures and modeling systems for engine programs and airframes. This role involves working within project teams to address complex technological challenges in a global, multi-disciplinary environment, contributing to flagship programs in civil aerospace, defense aerospace, and marine and energy sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Develop control software architectures and model systems for engine programs and airframes.
  • Ensure delivery of software architecture work products.
  • Provide direction, guidance, and training on architecture and associated processes.
  • Review architecture engineering work products for quality and completeness.
  • Resolve complex problems by selecting appropriate solutions based on technical experience.
  • Communicate complex technical ideas concisely to various audiences.
  • Adapt technical messages for broader audiences with varying levels of understanding.
  • Continuously seek simplicity and identify opportunities for improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 5+ years of software experience, OR
  • Master's degree in a STEM discipline with 3+ years of software experience, OR
  • PhD in a STEM discipline with software experience.
  • U.S. Citizenship or permanent residency is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5+ years of experience in embedded safety-critical software engineering.
  • Experience with DO-178 compliant software coding processes.
  • Control software experience.
  • Digital logic design experience.
  • Familiarity with model-based software design and simulation (e.g., Simulink).
  • Experience working in agile software development teams.
  • Desire to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Current or ability to obtain/maintain US DOD Secret or Top Secret security clearance.
  • Ability to present technical data to senior engineers and management.
