About The Position

The Controls Automation Technician at Mayco International is responsible for applying knowledge of Controls and Mechanical Technology to enhance new and existing manufacturing processes, aiming to maximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness. This role involves working with various automation technologies, programming PLCs, and ensuring compliance with electrical safety standards while supporting project start-ups and manufacturing operations.

Requirements

  • Preferred robotic experience.
  • Experience programming Allen Bradley/Rockwell and Siemens PLC/HMI software.
  • Knowledge of industrial networks (Ethernet I/P, DeviceNet, Profibus, ControlNet).
  • Experience with VFD and servo drive systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of power distribution as it applies to machine controls.
  • Knowledgeable in the design and application of fluid power controls (hydraulic, pneumatic, vacuum).
  • Thorough knowledge of electro-mechanical control devices (sensors, contactors, relays, switches, power supplies, transformers, motors).
  • Knowledge of common machine guarding devices (bumper strips, light curtains, area scanners).
  • Experience with vision systems.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical safety and machine guarding.
  • Computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Apply knowledge of Controls and Mechanical Technology to maximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness.
  • Program Allen Bradley/Rockwell and Siemens PLC/HMI software.
  • Support project start-up and manufacturing operations as needed.
  • Maintain control of spending on projects for new equipment and existing equipment revisions.
  • Interact professionally with all levels of management and maintain a cooperative temperament.
  • Read and understand electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics and prints.
  • Construct Robot EOATs, machine guards, sensor brackets, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
