About the position

As a Cook at KinderCare Learning Companies, you will play a vital role in preparing healthy and nutritious meals for children in our centers. This position involves following menus developed by our in-house nutritionist and ensuring that children receive the necessary fuel for their learning and growth. You will maintain kitchen hygiene, manage food supplies, and support the overall success of the center by collaborating with staff and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Prepare healthy and tasty meals and snacks for children.
• Maintain kitchen and related equipment safely and hygienically.
• Order food and supplies as needed.
• Dispense and store medication, as requested.
• Complete timely and accurate documentation according to KinderCare and licensing requirements.
• Assist with other daily center duties as needed.
• Collaborate with center staff and leadership to achieve goals around enrollment, accreditation, and engagement.

Requirements

• Familiarity with food storage conditions and understanding of food allergies.
• Ability to follow nutritious menus and prepare sufficient quantities of food.
• Basic math skills for measuring and calculating serving portions.
• Possess a Food Handler's License or willingness to obtain one.
• At least one year of institutional cooking experience; food ordering experience is highly desirable.
• Two or more years of experience working with children is highly desirable.
• Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds and work in classrooms or the kitchen.
• Read, write, understand, and speak English to communicate effectively.
