About the position

The Cook position at Cosentino's Price Chopper is responsible for producing and delivering high-quality prepared foods in a timely manner. The role involves assisting in all aspects of the deli to ensure customer satisfaction and adherence to food safety standards. The Cook will work closely with the Deli Manager and other team members to create a positive work environment and maintain high standards of food quality and presentation.

Responsibilities

  • Produce and deliver outstanding prepared foods in freshness, taste, quality, and presentation.
  • Assist in all aspects of the deli operations to meet customer expectations.
  • Work with the department manager to develop daily, weekly, and seasonal menu items.
  • Practice appropriate portion control in deli production and service.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, health, and sanitation guidelines.
  • Enforce quality control measures for deli products.
  • Supervise kitchen team members effectively and respectfully.
  • Promote a positive team atmosphere and high morale among staff.
  • Train and manage part-time cooks.
  • Communicate clearly with team members regarding resources needed for the deli department.
  • Practice effective inventory management and product rotation procedures.
  • Provide accurate and courteous answers to customer inquiries.
  • Meet or exceed productivity standards for team and individual results.
  • Promote department sales through customer engagement and product sampling.
  • Resolve customer complaints professionally and involve management when necessary.
  • Implement Cosentino's Customer Service Standards.
  • Operate, clean, and maintain kitchen equipment safely and effectively.
  • Ensure adherence to deli programs, recipes, menus, and promotions.

Requirements

  • A food handling permit must be obtained within the first 14 days of employment.
  • Completion of ongoing training and development as per Cosentino's Learning Plan.
  • Minimum of one year of previous cooking experience in a deli, bakery, catering, or banquet operation.
  • Minimum of 6 months experience in a deli or food service production facility.
  • Comprehensive understanding of federal, state, and local food sanitation guidelines.

Nice-to-haves

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Experience in cooking, grilling, and frying various foods.
