About the position

The Coordinator of Benefits & Wellness at Connecticut College is responsible for implementing and managing employee benefit programs and wellness initiatives. This role ensures that eligible employees are informed about their benefits and assists them with enrollment and any related issues. The coordinator also promotes healthy living through wellness programs and events, while providing quality customer service to faculty, staff, and retirees.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the College's employee benefit programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage the human resource information system (HRIS) related to benefits and payroll deductions.
  • Serve as the campus wellness program coordinator, promoting healthy living through trainings and events.
  • Communicate benefit programs to prospective and current employees, as well as retirees.
  • Assist employees and retirees with benefits-related problems and questions.
  • Interact with benefit providers to resolve service delivery issues.
  • Maintain and distribute employee benefit enrollment and plan information using current technologies.
  • Coordinate and conduct benefit orientation sessions for newly eligible employees.
  • Process employee benefit enrollments, terminations, and changes with benefit providers.
  • Distribute and process Family Medical Leave (FML) requests and maintain related files.
  • Coordinate employee education programs such as benefits fairs and retirement workshops.
  • Promote healthy habits through a comprehensive wellness program for faculty, staff, and dependents.
  • Plan and coordinate the annual staff service recognition ceremony.
  • Create a comfortable and confidential counseling environment for employees.
  • Stay informed of trends and regulations related to benefits administration.
  • Prepare benefit reports and process invoices from benefit providers.
  • Support the HR department's daily operations.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree required.
  • 2 - 4 years of relevant experience in HR or benefits administration.
  • HR professional certification preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws, especially ERISA, FMLA, and ACA.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with the College community and benefits providers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; knowledge of enterprise HRIS software, preferably elucian/Banner.
  • High integrity to handle confidential information.
  • Attention to detail and well-organized.
