About The Position

Carlow University is currently accepting applications for the Coordinator of Residence Life and Housing position. The Coordinator of Residence Life and Housing is a live-on position. This position requires the Coordinator of Residence Life and Housing to reside in their assigned on-campus apartment throughout the term of their appointment. The Coordinator of Residence Life and Housing will focus their efforts on all operational and functional areas of Residence Life and Housing. The Coordinator of Residence Life and Housing will manage all aspects of the Resident Assistant (RA) Program. The Coordinator of Residence Life and Housing will have previous experience working in housing operations and residential life, and student conduct administration, along with demonstrated knowledge of student development theory.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in student affairs or higher education is required.
  • Experience in residence life at a professional or student level is preferred.
  • Must have experience and abilities in staff oversight, management and planning, record keeping, programming, and mediation.
  • Strong communication, computer, and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Must be able and willing to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs in coordinating the hiring process for all residence life staff and serve as a first line of contact and resource for Resident Assistants (RAs).
  • Creates and processes all housing and meal plan assignments, including annual room selection as the primary user of the Symplicity Housing Software system.
  • Oversees activities related to opening and closing of residence hall areas during university recesses, including annual check-in and check-out procedures.
  • Coordinates with the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs to provide a robust and inclusive residence hall programming and leadership model that espouses the University values and addresses campus life issues.
  • Assists with the supervision and task management of the Graduate Residence Director (GRD) and Resident Assistants (RA) to mediate student disputes and resolve interpersonal problems in the residence halls.
  • In conjunction with the Assistant Dean of Students, works closely with Facilities and the University Police to ensure timely inspections, repairs, and long-range planning in the residence hall facilities.
  • Works in tandem and cooperation with the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs to ensure successful completion of all administrative functions for housing, including assignment letters, contracts, keys, housing assignments, work orders, etc.
  • Assists with the oversight of the Residence Life department budget.
  • Maintains and regularly provides accurate and useful data on occupancy, incidents, conduct cases, and other student- and facilities-related matters.
  • Helps to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the campus community by responding and processing alleged policy violations in the residence halls, as reported by staff, students, University Police, or community members.
  • Assists in coordinating training and provides guidance to the Graduate Hall Director (GRD) in their role as hearing officer in the established student conduct process.
  • Maintains due process and a learning-centered philosophy when sanctioning and engaging in the student conduct.
  • Works closely with Enrollment Management, Student Accounts, and other University offices to ensure a smooth and effective process for students seeking on-campus housing.
  • Works with the Assistant Dean of Students and the broader Student Affairs team to support campus life and other programs as needed.
  • Resides in an on-campus apartment and participates in the University professional staff on-call rotation to support residential students beyond business hours and on weekends.
  • Establishes and maintains an engaging and welcoming on-campus living environment for all students.
  • Demonstrates and reflects understanding of and commitment to the mission and core values of Carlow University and the Sisters of Mercy.
