About the position

We are looking for a degreed engineer with prior manufacturing experience and a strong quality background. Key responsibilities will include performing new technology/manufacturing feasibility assessments, developing robust industrialization plans, developing optimal bills of process, breaking capacity constraints, addressing systemic quality/warranty issues and delivering on APQP/PSW. Building strong relationships with supplier partners will be critical for success and significant collaboration will be required with senior leaders in the Ford product development, research, purchasing, and site STA teams. This will require excellent verbal and written communication skills and a passion for teamwork and collaboration. Ideal candidates for this position will have prior experience managing automotive suppliers for an OEM or experience supporting a supplier manufacturing site as a supplier engineer. Candidates are needed who have specific experience in automotive manufacturing in body exterior and underbody with ability to travel approximately 25%.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a supplier technical assistance core engineer
  • Lead development, documentation, and implementation of the industrialization of components sourced to suppliers for new programs
  • Ensure component manufacturing strategy is feasible and meets timing, quality and capacity requirements
  • Perform New technology/manufacturing feasibility assessments
  • Optimize manufacturing processes
  • Coordinate the completion of the Core STA industrialization deliverables
  • Collaborate with research and core PD to understand new technologies and how they might impact the supply base
  • Collaborate with PD, purchasing, and site STA to drive optimal sourcing decisions
  • Collaborate with PD and purchasing to optimize the best manufacturing processes and deliver the best cost at job #1
  • Lead/participate in efforts to break capacity constraints, resolve systemic technical issues, and address critical issues impacting launch or production
  • Collaborate with technical specialists and cross functional partners to develop best practices and lessons learned (health charts) for critical commodities
  • Travel throughout the region and globally as necessary

Requirements
