About the position

The Corporate Project & Design Engineer at Rust-Oleum Corporation is responsible for leading strategic capital engineering projects within Manufacturing Operations. This role involves providing engineering design specifications, managing projects from design through startup, and ensuring adherence to industry standards and company values. The engineer will also develop and maintain engineering guidelines and standards while collaborating with various teams to enhance project execution and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for capital project execution including equipment selection, justification, CapEx processing, purchasing, installation, and start-up support efforts.
  • Develop and manage engineering design specifications and Techno-Economic Models including process design, P&ID, mass and energy balances, equipment sizing, and financial analyses (CapEx, OpEX, NPV).
  • Support and bolster the Engineering Work Process providing strategic direction and support to build and enhance the work process.
  • Manage projects using the Engineering Work Process from conceptual design through successful startup transition to the local plant team.
  • Recommend and implement manufacturing systems designed for machine, human interaction, method/process, raw material & environmental variability.
  • Manage contractors, technicians, skilled trades, and internal resources to safely install and startup manufacturing systems.
  • Apply the Process Safety Management (PSM) regulations, building code, and NFPA fire code to capital projects and design specifications.
  • Manage external Engineering Firm resources on large capital projects.

Requirements

  • BS in Chemical Engineering preferred; Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Packaging, and Electrical Engineers with hands-on related experience will also be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a plant engineering support role with hands-on experience in engineering, process design, continuous improvement, troubleshooting equipment, project management, and project start-up verification.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational, interpersonal, and technical communication skills, with the ability to lead and thrive in fast-paced, multitasking environments.
  • Commitment to safety, ethical behavior, and respect for people, ensuring adherence to industry standards, governmental regulations, and company values.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to support capital project assignments.
