About the position

The Corporate Affairs Senior Manager at Amgen Capability Center in Tampa is responsible for leading and executing communications strategies for site leadership. This role focuses on enhancing Amgen's profile as an employer of choice, managing internal and external communications, and driving community engagement initiatives. The position requires a strategic partner who can effectively communicate with executives and stakeholders, ensuring alignment with Amgen's values and mission to serve patients.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the site's internal and external communication strategy, emphasizing Amgen's profile as an employer of choice.
• Implement a site engagement plan to build a culture consistent with Amgen Values and ensure staff are informed.
• Exemplify growth mindset and maintain subject matter expertise in best practices to support site leadership.
• Shift between tactical and strategic communications, build collaborative relationships, and deliver results.
• Establish and enhance relationships with key internal stakeholders to drive consistent processes.
• Support the Site lead with presentations and messaging for All Hands meetings and local media strategy execution.
• Implement a community affairs and philanthropy program to drive staff engagement and strengthen relationships with local government and industry.
• Proactively assess change management and communications needs.
• Stay abreast of local and industry trends to best serve the site.
• Partner with Corporate Affairs colleagues to manage initiatives and campaigns in the Tampa region.
• Collaborate with site employees and enterprise colleagues to drive Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (DI&B) programs and initiatives.

Requirements

• Doctorate degree and 2 years of Strategic Communications, Public Relations and Corporate Communication experience
• Master's degree and 4 years of Strategic Communications, Public Relations and Corporate Communication experience
• Bachelor's degree and 6 years of Strategic Communications, Public Relations and Corporate Communication experience
• Associate's degree and 10 years of Strategic Communications, Public Relations and Corporate Communication experience
• High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Strategic Communications, Public Relations and Corporate Communication experience

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism or related field
• Media, government affairs and community relations experience
• Knowledge of the Tampa Region, especially business, government and community organizations
• Biotechnology, pharmaceutical or healthcare communications experience
• Strategic and creative problem solver with the ability to understand business challenges and develop actionable programs
• Experience creating and executing strategic communication programs for a complex, matrixed organization
• Demonstrated proficiency working directly with executive management
• Ability to interact with all levels of management and staff
