About the position

A well-established law firm is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join their growing team. This position requires an advanced capability in communication and research and will be a cornerstone to the new practice. The right candidate is a strong communicator with an entrepreneurial mind and a knack for problem-solving, documentation, and timeline management, as well as working cross-functionally with outside legal counsel across all areas of corporate law. This role is an exciting opportunity to work with a busy team of attorneys where you will be able to help drive and manage the internal legal process and functions, as well as be involved in the overall communication and due diligence process to help with ad hoc projects. You will support in monitoring policies and procedures as well as overall administration in monitoring new initiatives. The right candidate is collaborative, team-focused, and highly organized. This role is hybrid in San Francisco, paying $115,000 - $120,000.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal administrative support, service, and expertise to staff and clients
  • Receive and organize mail, including scanning and uploading mail into client folders and timely notifying team members of important notices
  • Timely notify clients of receipt notices, approval notices, and employment/travel authorization approvals
  • Prepare and send out case engagement agreements, questionnaires, and initiation packages
  • Assist Supervising Paralegal and Partners with case initiations, preparation, and filings
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain spreadsheets and other workflow management systems to track client information and cases
  • Come into the office as needed for printing, compiling, and mailing out cases, coordinating with team members to limit filings to just a single or a couple of days
  • General filing and organization of files
  • Submit and track case inquiries; check statuses of cases with USCIS
  • Research and maintain up-to-date knowledge of changing immigration laws

Requirements

  • 3 - 5+ years' work experience ideally as a Legal Assistant
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • A background in Private Equity is highly attractive
  • Exceptionally organized and detail-oriented with a discerning eye to interpret data and research
  • Team-focused and collaborative, always looking to lend a helping hand and lift up team members
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including both oral and written, with the ability to establish rapport with business and personal contacts
  • Effective team player and willing to expand responsibilities and learn new skills
