About the position

The Associate position within the Corporate Transactions Group (CTG) at Alvarez & Marsal focuses on operational and execution aspects of the M&A life cycle. This role is designed for professionals interested in building a career in the M&A market, providing opportunities to engage in high-quality client analysis and deliver impactful work products. The position emphasizes collaboration, adaptability, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, contributing to significant market-shaping deals.

Responsibilities

  • Serve on workstream(s) for enterprise-wide M&A projects, delivering high-quality client analysis and work products.
  • Support operational diligence and functional analysis during pre-signing/pre-closing activities to assess value and risk.
  • Help clients understand operational overlaps and develop integration/separation work plans and critical planning documents.
  • Proactively identify business issues and opportunities, recommending activities to mitigate risks and optimize opportunities.

Requirements

  • Direct experience in a client-serving professional services firm, preferably Big 4 or top-tier strategy consulting firm.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a solid understanding of strategic business model decisions.
  • Experience working on complex projects, particularly in M&A transactional deal work.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and confidently with senior business leaders.
  • Competency in professional technology solutions and tools such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Tableau, Power BI, and Alteryx.

Nice-to-haves

  • CFA or CPA certification preferred.
  • Experience within industry segments such as Consumer Products, Industrials, Automotive, Healthcare, Life Sciences, Financial Services, Energy, Technology, or Media.
