About the position

The Assistant Director of the Reentry Services Division at the Federal Bureau of Prisons is responsible for overseeing and developing programs aimed at inmate reentry and rehabilitation. This role involves managing various functional areas, including psychological services, community reentry affairs, and education, while ensuring the implementation of service-wide policy guidelines. The incumbent will also monitor mental health services and programs, direct crisis management initiatives, and serve as a key advisor to senior leadership within the Bureau of Prisons.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and evaluate programs for the Reentry Services Division.
  • Implement major policy changes affecting various branches of the division.
  • Oversee psychological and drug treatment services within the Bureau of Prisons.
  • Monitor mental health services and programs for inmates, including the Suicide Prevention Program.
  • Direct the development of psychological, religious, and inmate counseling programs.
  • Oversee the agency's inmate reentry strategy and crisis management programs.
  • Advise the Director and Deputy Director on key issues related to reentry services.

Requirements

  • Progressively responsible experience in a correctional environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform supervisory or administrative duties in a correctional setting.
  • Experience in coordinating and directing operations and programs in a correctional setting.
  • Ability to evaluate performance of institution operations and effectiveness of programs.
