About the position

The Corrections Case Manager at the Eastern Regional Jail and Correctional Facility will work under direct supervision as part of a dedicated team responsible for providing essential services to a designated caseload of inmates. This role is pivotal in managing the overall needs of inmates, ensuring that they receive appropriate support and guidance throughout their time in the facility. The Corrections Case Manager will engage in both individual and group counseling sessions, focusing on the rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates into society. In addition to counseling, the Corrections Case Manager will assist in the development and implementation of treatment programs tailored to the specific needs of inmates. This includes gathering and analyzing case histories, collecting collateral information related to placement, treatment, and court proceedings, and writing comprehensive reports and recommendations regarding inmate behavior, placement, and performance for the circuit courts. The role also involves controlling inmate movement within the facility and acting as a liaison between inmates and various stakeholders, including legal representatives, family members, treatment providers, and court officials. The Corrections Case Manager will be expected to perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall safety and rehabilitation efforts within the correctional facility.

Responsibilities

  • Manage an assigned caseload of inmates and ensure their needs are met.
  • Provide individual and group counseling to inmates.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of treatment programs.
  • Gather and analyze case histories and collateral information.
  • Write reports and recommendations regarding inmate behavior and performance for the circuit courts.
  • Control inmate movement within the facility.
  • Serve as a liaison between inmates and legal representatives, family members, treatment providers, and court officials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in criminal justice, corrections, psychology, sociology, counseling, criminology, social work, or a related field.
  • Two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in inmate counseling, security, or treatment in a correctional setting, or as a probation and parole officer, mental health counselor, or social worker.
  • Experience in corrections programming or treatment may be substituted for the required training on a year-for-year basis.
  • A Master's Degree in criminal justice, corrections, social work, or a related behavioral science field may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
