Responsibilities
- Evaluate and treat patients under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding their diagnosis, treatment plan, and goals.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation in accordance with standards of practice.
- Conduct tests and measurements of the neuromuscular skeletal system.
- Develop effective treatment plans and obtain approval for services from referring physicians.
- Identify and assess the patient's need for special equipment.
- Communicate effectively with peers and other disciplines regarding patient care issues.
- Participate in departmental, hospital, and community in-services.
Requirements
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Associate Degree from an accredited OTA program.
- OTA license issued by the State of Texas.
- A minimum of 1 year experience in an acute care setting preferred; new grads will be considered.
