About The Position

The Counselor for the Addictions Program at UConnectCare Behavioral Health Services, Inc. is responsible for evaluating clients impacted by substance use disorder and facilitating their treatment process. This full-time role involves gathering relevant client information, conducting evaluations, and collaborating with treatment teams to ensure effective care delivery.

Requirements

• Minimum of two years' experience in chemical dependency counseling at an OASAS licensed program.
• Familiarity with OASAS guidelines pertaining to the evaluation mode.
• Thorough understanding of DSMV criteria for chemical abuse and dependency.
• Qualified Health Professional in the state of New York or CASAC ready.

Responsibilities

• Gather pertinent information relevant to the client's evaluation using diagnostic tools, interviews, and collateral contacts.
• Complete necessary paperwork associated with client intake, including releases, fee contracts, medical assessments, and case notes.
• Present client evaluations to the treatment team during case conferences and inform clients of the results.
• Schedule clients with primary treatment counselors following acceptance of treatment recommendations.
• Screen client records if treatment recommendations are refused.
