About the position

As a Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger at Fred Meyer, you will play a vital role in creating an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. Your primary responsibility will be to bag groceries at checkout for customers, ensuring that items are handled with care and that bags are filled efficiently, aiming for at least five items per bag while preventing damage to contents. You will also assist customers by removing their merchandise from the bottom of the bascart for checkout and offering help with loading bags into their vehicles. In addition to bagging groceries, you will be responsible for performing basic shelf conditioning, informing customers about grocery specials, and returning merchandise to store shelves. You will gather bascarts and return them to designated areas, clean spills, and collect trash both inside the store and in the parking lot. Maintaining a clean and safe environment is crucial, and you will be expected to clean all areas inside and outside the store, handle and assemble seasonal merchandise, and understand the store's layout to assist customers effectively. Safety is a top priority at Fred Meyer, and you will reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures, identifying unsafe conditions, and notifying store management of any issues. You will also adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines, practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment, and report any items in need of repair. Your role will contribute to creating an environment where customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store. You will be expected to report all safety risks or illegal activities, including robbery, theft, or fraud, and adhere to all local, state, and federal laws, as well as company guidelines. Responsibilities

• Bag groceries at checkout for customers, ensuring items are not damaged.
• Assist customers by removing merchandise from the bottom of the bascart for checkout.
• Offer help to customers with loading bags into their cars.
