About the position

Menlo School is on an exciting journey to redefine artistic excellence and innovation. We are seeking an extraordinary visionary to lead our Arts Program into a new era of creative exploration, education, and community impact. If you are a forward-thinking leader with a passion for nurturing talent, shaping culture, and driving meaningful change, we invite you to explore this transformative opportunity. The Arts are a central component of developing well-rounded citizens who have the skills and orientation to make a positive impact on the world. Together with Academics and Athletics, the Arts aid students in finding and developing their unique voice, learn to express themselves creatively, discover resilience in the face of setbacks and even failure, and thrive in an ensemble. Reporting to the Head of School and serving on the Senior Administrative Team, the Creative Arts Director will be dedicated full-time to creating the most successful Arts Program Menlo School is capable of providing. Leading a 6-12 department of 14 talented Arts faculty and staff, the Creative Arts Director is responsible for creating the vision of the program, developing the strategies to best execute on that vision and overseeing the tactics required to bring the vision to fruition all while coordinating closely with Academic, Athletic and other leaders on campus.

  • Develop and implement programs and initiatives to achieve these goals while focusing on their relevance in our ever-changing environment.
  • Oversee the scope and sequence of Arts curriculum grades 6-12.
  • Manage team members through direct supervision and in some cases through 'dotted-line' responsibility, sharing managerial responsibilities with other department leaders.
  • Provide day-to-day direction, coach and develop, evaluate and manage performances.
  • Work closely with the Division Directors to hire.
