About the position

The Credit Analyst / Senior Analyst position is a key role within the corporate credit team, focusing on assessing and monitoring credit risk for a portfolio of counterparties. The analyst will proactively manage collateral to safeguard future revenues and capital investments, ensuring that the company maintains a strong financial position in the energy sector.

Responsibilities

  • Perform credit analysis using GAAP financial statements, internal scoring models, and other sources to make recommendations on credit and collateral requirements.
  • Negotiate credit provisions in commercial agreements and security-related documents such as guarantees and letters of credit.
  • Manage collateral by tracking guarantees, letters of credit, prepayments, and monitoring expiration dates to ensure adequate credit support.
  • Conduct routine credit reviews of existing customers to identify changes in financial conditions that may necessitate additional credit assurance.
  • Prepare daily and weekly credit reports for executive leadership to assess payment timeliness and monitor credit exposures of gas and crude marketing entities.
  • Maintain up-to-date credit ratings and collateral positions in Energy Trading & Risk Management (ETRM) software to ensure compliance with trading limits.
  • Monitor energy market developments and customer announcements to enhance understanding of industry trends.
  • Complete other corporate credit reports and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 2 - 5 years of experience in corporate credit, finance, accounting, or a similar field.
  • Prior experience in the energy industry, specifically in gas marketing, terminals, and/or crude marketing is preferred.
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities effectively.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort engaging with credit, commercial, treasury, and executive teams on credit topics.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP financial statements and credit risk evaluation, with energy experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
  • Familiarity with Bloomberg and ETRM systems is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the energy sector, particularly in gas marketing or crude marketing.
