About the position

The Crew Leader II position is responsible for leading a team of workers in operating equipment and performing irrigation maintenance work for various projects within the County. This role involves providing direction, training, and assistance to crew members, ensuring safety compliance, coordinating project activities, and overseeing maintenance tasks related to water utilities, grounds, and recreational facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Leads a crew of workers in operating equipment and performing irrigation maintenance work.
  • Provides direction, training, and assistance to employees; coordinates daily work activities and makes work assignments.
  • Ensures adherence to established safety procedures and monitors the work environment for safety compliance.
  • Coordinates, prioritizes, and oversees projects, including reviewing work orders and dispatching crew members as needed.
  • Monitors work conducted by contractors to ensure quality and compliance with contracts.
  • Oversees tasks involving water utilities maintenance and water distribution systems projects.
  • Conducts safety inspections and applies herbicides and pesticides for aquatic control.
  • Performs grounds maintenance and landscaping tasks, including mowing, planting, and maintaining public areas.
  • Maintains parks, athletic fields, and recreational facilities, including repairs and installations.
  • Performs building maintenance projects, including light construction and HVAC maintenance.
  • Responds to complaints and questions related to Division activities and coordinates emergency responses.
  • Operates a variety of machinery and tools associated with division projects.
  • Monitors inventory levels of supplies and materials and initiates requests for new materials.
  • Performs administrative tasks, including budgetary input and payroll preparation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Two (2) years of related experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in landscaping or irrigation maintenance.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations in maintenance work.
