About The Position

The Crime Victims Liaison position at the Webb County Sheriff's Department is a full-time role focused on providing support and advocacy for victims of violent crimes. The liaison communicates with victims and their families, assists them through legal processes, and connects them with necessary resources and services. Requirements

• High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
• Knowledge of the criminal justice system and available resources for victims of violent crimes.
• Knowledge of victims' rights and grant management principles.
• Skill in developing and implementing plans and programs.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish.
• Sufficient experience in victim advocacy or a similar position, usually 1-2 years.

Responsibilities

• Communicates with victims and victims' families regarding violent crimes.
• Provides information and referrals to social service agencies, counseling resources, and support groups.
• Accompanies victims to motion hearings, preliminary hearings, trials, sentencing, and ex parte hearings.
• Prepares adult/child victims to testify and arranges for pre-trial visits to the courtroom.
• Arranges transportation for victims to court appearances.
• Assists in the completion of applications to the Crime Victims Compensation Fund.
• Corresponds with victims regarding verdicts and sentencing.
• Maintains statistics and submits reports related to victim services.
• Assists in the management of grant funds.
• Coordinates and participates in community outreach and education.
• Develops and implements plans for Crime Victims' Rights Week and the Domestic Violence Coalition Proclamation.
• Performs any other duties as assigned.
