About the position

The Critical Environment Instrumentation Engineer (CE IE) role is essential for maintaining and managing industrial control systems (ICS) within a mission-critical data center environment. This position involves working with a dynamic team to ensure the availability, security, and quality of ICS systems that support various online services. The CE IE will also engage in project management, compliance with safety programs, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to enhance operational efficiency and safety in data center operations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining industrial control system (ICS) availability, data quality, service and change management, reporting, and the security of all ICS systems in the Data Center.
  • Site level ICS program and project management, and both govern and directly participate in the execution of global initiatives related to ICS systems.
  • Managing, servicing, and governing electrical and mechanical industrial control systems (ICS) to include server, application, network, and device infrastructure deployed within a 24x7x365 mission-critical data center.
  • Governing logical and physical access, approval, and permission related to all ICS systems, network, workstation, and server that provide data center monitoring and control.
  • Empowering a culture of safety and security in global data center operations by complying with CO+I's safety program and policies and completing compliance knowledge assessments.
  • Developing positive working relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 2+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, service engineering, or system engineering OR equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet customer and/or government security screening requirements, including passing a Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Critical Environment, Industrial, Mechanical or related field AND 5+ years technical experience in network engineering, service engineering, or system engineering OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in an operational, mission-critical, 24x7x365 facility.
  • 1.5+ years of experience in the design and/or commissioning of Industrial Control Systems (ICS) in data center critical environments including the Modbus and BACnet protocol.
  • 2+ years of experience with the operation and maintenance of building electrical systems (Power distribution, grounding, fire alarm, and related control systems) and mechanical systems (HVAC, Chilled Water, DX Refrigerant, Evaporative, and related control systems).
  • Project management experience with a focus on agile methodologies.
  • Knowledge of construction techniques and terminology including the ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and documents.
