About the position

This position provides responsible supervision to assigned probationers to ensure compliance with court ordered conditions thereby providing a service to the courts of Nueces County, the community and the offenders. The officer will supervise, screen and evaluate probationers placed on community supervision to monitor compliance with court orders. They will conduct criminal history reports on offenders placed on Community Supervision in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures. The employee must maintain accurate and detailed documentation and chronological record of referrals, assessments/reassessments, probation violations and all other offender activity on a regular basis, as required by the PPM. They will process and complete required documentation including screening, assessment, case plan, presentence reports, pretrial intake and discharge data forms. The officer will notify the court immediately of any violations of probation, ensure that all fees are addressed on a timely basis as per court order, and conduct monthly caseload counts and prepare monthly statistical reports to ensure compliance with CJAD standards. The position may require infrequent work on weekends and evenings as directed by a supervisor, and the officer will assist the courts in revocation hearings as necessary and provide court testimony as required.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and observe urinalysis with accurate documentation.
  • Make face to face and collateral contacts as required.
  • Assist the courts in revocation hearings and provide court testimony.
  • Contribute to a positive workplace atmosphere.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • One year of graduate study or one year of experience in relevant fields if the degree is not in specified areas.
  • Must be certified by the state (CJAD) as a community supervision officer within one year of employment.
  • Possess and maintain personal reliable transportation and valid Texas driver's license.
  • Good knowledge of the criminal justice system and community supervision principles.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of automated systems and procedures.
