About The Position

The Clinical RN position at Palomar Health involves delivering coordinated clinical nursing care in a psychiatric receiving unit and crisis stabilization unit. The role focuses on providing care to mental health clients, assessing their conditions, and determining the need for higher levels of care. The RN will oversee direct patient care, conduct assessments, and ensure patient safety while collaborating with physicians and the interdisciplinary team for treatment and discharge planning.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of experience as an RN in an acute adult outpatient/inpatient psychiatric or urgent care setting.
• Background knowledge of psychiatric and medical-surgical illnesses and treatments.
• Current CA RN License.
• Crisis Prevention (CPI) certification within 6 months of hire.
• American Heart Association recognized BLS - Healthcare Provider certification.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred).
• 3+ years of directly related RN experience in the area of specialty (preferred).
• Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health RN (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Deliver coordinated clinical nursing care in a psychiatric receiving unit and crisis stabilization unit.
• Evaluate patients for suicidal or homicidal tendencies and inappropriate responses indicating psychosis, anxiety, or depression.
• Oversee direct patient care and perform patient assessments, including Behavioral Health assessments.
• Ensure patient safety at all times and manage clinical activities in the Crisis Stabilization Unit.
• Provide patient and family education regarding health and medication.
• Coordinate treatment and discharge planning with physicians, providers, families, and relevant resources.
• Supervise and direct the activities of nursing and ancillary personnel.
• Adhere to the California Nurse Practice Act and the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses.
