About the position

The George Washington University Hospital (GW Hospital) is recognized as a leader in providing high-quality healthcare in the D.C. The Computed Tomography Technologist will be responsible for producing quality diagnostic images of human anatomy and vascular structures, following prescribed protocols. This role involves performing examinations proficiently and courteously, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring efficient departmental operations. The technologist will also demonstrate strong communication skills and compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Produce quality diagnostic images of human anatomy and vascular structures following prescribed protocols.
  • Perform examinations in a proficient, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Complete ancillary tasks to ensure efficient and consistent departmental operations.
  • Demonstrate radiation protection/safety for patients, staff, and self according to department protocols and regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintain equipment, exam rooms, and work areas in a neat and safe condition.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and the general public.
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Relate to clinical personnel and medical staff, and interact well with the public.
  • Perform CT exams independently and follow physician's orders.
  • Access patency of IV sites before injections and look up lab values for radiologist viewing.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent required.
  • Diploma from a certified school of radiologic technology.
  • Minimum one-year experience as a registered Computed Tomography Technologist required, acute care experience preferred.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR Certification through the American Heart Association required.
  • Active American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT)(CT) license required.
