About the position

The CT Technologist Senior plays a vital role in performing computerized tomographic examinations and procedures, ensuring optimal imaging for patients while adhering to safety protocols and maintaining patient confidentiality. This position involves direct patient interaction, technical operation of CT equipment, and collaboration with radiologists and healthcare staff to provide high-quality diagnostic imaging services.

Responsibilities

  • Performs computed tomography studies and procedures, positioning patients and providing necessary immobilization and counseling.
  • Selects technical factors and protocols for optimal imaging for each patient.
  • Reviews orders, prepares schedules, and consults with attending Radiologists and Registered Nurses as needed.
  • Maintains daily records of exams performed and protocols orders from Protocol Worklist prior to scheduling.
  • Follows National Patient Safety Goals, ensuring accuracy of information and data entry while maintaining patient privacy.
  • Captures required documentation in Radiology Information System (RIS) and operates the contrast injector.
  • Assists with screening patients for contraindications and prepares sterile fields and contrast agents.
  • Maintains appropriate supplies during procedures and assists radiologists during interventional procedures.
  • Post processes CT images and prepares them for Radiologist interpretation, transmitting images to the Diagnostic Imaging PACS system.
  • Maintains working knowledge of department equipment, reporting malfunctions as necessary.
  • Assumes responsibility for patient needs during procedures, including maintaining IV access and providing service-oriented communication.
  • Provides safety instructions to patients and staff, applying ALARA principles to minimize radiation exposure.
  • Functions as part of the resuscitation team during emergencies and maintains cleanliness of the assigned room.
  • Supervises student technologists during clinical assignments and rotates on-call responsibilities for CT service areas.
  • Orients and trains new personnel and pursues ongoing continuing education.

Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years successful CT technologist experience.
  • Associates degree in radiologic technology or two (2) years of directly related experience.
  • Radiographer License (Hawaii).
  • Basic Life Support certification from American Heart Association.
  • Radiologic Technologist Certification.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Computed Tomography.

Nice-to-haves

  • Minimum four (4) years successful CT technologist experience.
  • Documented technical leadership and CT mentoring experience.
  • Bachelors degree in allied health care or related field.
