The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a Cuban Culture Content Creator - Consultant to develop a comprehensive written resource titled "Cuban Backgrounder". This position is crucial in supporting the Switchboard project, which serves as a resource hub for refugee service providers in the United States. The consultant will focus on the unique aspects of Cuban migration to the U.S., particularly in light of the recent influx of Cuban and Haitian nationals seeking asylum. The role involves extensive research and content development, aimed at enhancing the understanding of the migratory context and challenges faced by these populations. The consultant will work closely with the IRC's Asylum & Legal Protection Unit to create training materials and resources that will aid service providers in navigating the complexities of the immigration system and the specific needs of Cuban and Haitian entrants. The Cuban Backgrounder will include sections on the recent history of Cuba, current country conditions, and the historical context of displacement for Cuban nationals. The consultant will also be responsible for revising existing resources related to the Cuban population to ensure they are relevant and useful for service providers. This position requires a strong understanding of the socio-political landscape of Cuba and the migratory experiences of its nationals, as well as the ability to produce high-quality written content that is accessible and informative for a diverse audience. Knowledge of Spanish is preferred, as it will enhance the consultant's ability to engage with the material and the communities served by the IRC.
