About the position

The Culinary Specialist will play a vital role in the food service operations at Aramark, assisting the manager with various tasks related to food and meal preparation. This position requires maintaining cash receipts and meal records, as well as ensuring high standards of quality in food production, sanitation, and kitchen safety practices. The Culinary Specialist will be responsible for preparing quality food and baked goods according to a planned menu, ensuring that all food is stored in an accurate and sanitary manner, and serving food according to established meal schedules and department policies. In addition to food preparation, the Culinary Specialist will prepare daily reports that verify transactions and understand what is inclusive of a meal. The role involves using and caring for kitchen equipment, particularly knives, and ensuring timely preparation of a variety of food items and beverages. The Culinary Specialist will also be responsible for adding garnishments to enhance customer satisfaction and visual appeal. The position requires coordination and assistance in major cleaning tasks, including refrigerators, freezers, and cooking and serving equipment. Adherence to food safety regulations for sanitation, food handling, and storage is crucial. The Culinary Specialist will maintain a clean and organized work and storage area, scrub and polish counters, clean and sanitize steam tables, and follow established cleanliness procedures. This role may also involve physical demands such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended walking and standing, and may require the use of uniforms and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Responsibilities

  • Prepare quality food and baked goods according to a planned menu
  • Prepare a daily report that verifies transactions

  • Ensure storage of food in an accurate and sanitary manner
  • Serve food according to meal schedules, department policies and procedures
  • Use and care of kitchen equipment, especially knives

  • Adhere to all food safety regulations for sanitation, food handling, and storage
  • Adhere to the uniform policy
  • Connect with the Manager daily to understand and accurately prepare menu for the day
  • Supervise the food temperature requirements
  • Maintain a clean and organized work and storage area
  • Scrub and polish counters, clean and sanitize steam tables, and other equipment
  • Follow established procedures and standards for cleanliness, to ensure a balanced and safe environment; duties include sweeping, mopping, ware washing
  • Maintain garbage collection site and kitchen floor areas in a neat and sanitary fashion
  • Perform other duties as assigned including other areas in the kitchen

Requirements

  • Food Service Certificate as needed
  • Sufficient education or training to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to work quickly and concisely under pressure
