About the position

This position is responsible for general building and grounds maintenance, including all phases of custodian work at the Wyoming Life Resource Center (WLRC) in Lander. Responsibilities

  • Clean and disinfect resident rooms, living areas, and other buildings on campus.
  • Properly dispose of contaminated medical supplies and disinfect patient isolation rooms.
  • Strip and wax floors using commercial vacuums, floor buffers, and carpet cleaners.
  • Complete maintenance requests, as assigned.
  • Ensure building entrances, sidewalks, parking lots and street entrances are clean and clear of debris by utilizing snow blowers, brooms, etc.
  • Monitor slick and hazardous areas on campus during inclement weather.
  • Assist with landscape maintenance.
  • Move furniture and set up for functions and events.
  • Perform minor repairs to buildings and equipment.
  • Pressure wash building exteriors.
  • Wash windows and clean rain gutters.
  • Clean and maintain all janitorial and landscaping equipment and maintenance tools.
  • Report unsafe conditions and other concerns to the supervisor.
  • Complete record keeping and work orders for any required repairs.
  • Maintain working knowledge of fire safety, evacuation plans, procedures, and fire extinguisher locations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • 0-6 months of progressive work experience (typically in Building and Grounds) OR 1-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Building and Grounds).
  • Knowledge of materials, supplies, equipment, and more technical cleaning and maintenance methods.
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods and practices.
  • Knowledge of cleansers, supplies, and equipment and the ability to use chemicals and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Ability to work and clean around sensitive equipment such as computers and medical equipment.
  • Knowledge of basic math and the ability to properly mix chemicals.
  • Knowledge of state and facility policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of universal precautions.
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures, cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of infection control standards.
  • Ability to follow directions and work safely and efficiently.
  • Knowledge of power and manual tools.
  • Ability to work with and communicate with residents and staff in a positive manner.
  • Ability to work with and around WLRC residents, including those who may display challenging behaviors.
