About the position
The Lead Custodian at Denver Health is responsible for maintaining a clean and aseptic environment throughout the hospital and clinics. This role involves overseeing and training Custodian I workers, performing various cleaning tasks, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. The position is essential in supporting the overall mission of Denver Health by providing a safe and hygienic space for patients and staff.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the work of and train Custodian I workers.
- Gather and empty trash and linen.
- Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them.
- Use floor care equipment to strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
- Transport and appropriately handle trash, recycling, medical waste, linen, and other items to designated areas.
- Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors.
- Mix water and detergents or acids to prepare cleaning solutions.
- Change bed linens.
Requirements
- No High School Diploma and/or No GED Required.
- Knowledge of tools and equipment needed for cleaning jobs.
- Knowledge of safety hazards and necessary safety precautions.
- Knowledge of chemicals and equipment used for cleaning surface areas.
- Ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions.
