About the position

The Customer Service Representative (CSR) position at Hassan & Sons Inc. is a part-time role located in Fremont, CA, where the CSR plays a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of the store. Under the general direction of the Station Manager and Area Manager, the CSR is responsible for delivering superior customer service, managing cash register operations, and maintaining a clean and visually appealing food mart. The CSR is expected to create a welcoming environment for customers, ensuring that they feel valued and appreciated from the moment they enter the store. This includes making eye contact, greeting customers, and representing the company in a professional manner at all times. In addition to customer service duties, the CSR is tasked with operating the cash register accurately, processing various payment methods, and balancing the cash drawer at the end of each shift. The role also involves maintaining store displays, ensuring that shelves are stocked and visually appealing, and that promotional signage is in good condition. The CSR must also handle food and beverage items, ensuring they are fresh and properly prepared, while adhering to safety and cleanliness standards. The position requires the CSR to perform various maintenance and cleanliness duties, including cleaning outdoor equipment, disposing of trash, and maintaining the store's restrooms. The CSR must be adaptable, able to multitask, and possess strong communication skills to effectively interact with customers and team members. The role may also require the CSR to understand the operation of additional services, such as a car wash, if applicable. Responsibilities

  • Welcome and greet customers as they enter the store.
  • Represent the company professionally at all times.
  • Maintain a courteous attitude when dealing with customers.
  • Manage customer checkout procedures efficiently.
  • Perform the Four Steps of Customer Service to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Accurately operate the cash register and process transactions.
  • Balance the cash drawer at the end of each shift.
  • Stock and maintain shelves and displays to ensure visual appeal.
  • Ensure promotional signage is displayed correctly and in good condition.
  • Remove damaged and expired items from shelves.
  • Ensure food and beverage items are fresh and properly prepared.
  • Sanitize machines and equipment that come into contact with food.
  • Maintain cleanliness of outdoor equipment and store premises.
  • Dispose of trash and debris inside and outside the store.
  • Sweep and mop store floors as necessary.
  • Clean station restrooms and maintain overall cleanliness.
  • Check for valid identification for age-restricted items.
  • Understand and operate the car wash if applicable.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Basic understanding of POS systems preferred.
  • Some customer service experience is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Ability to multitask while providing excellent customer service.
  • Adaptability and sound decision-making abilities are essential.
  • Computer proficiency is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • CPR and first aid training is a plus.
