About the position

The Customer Service Representative at SYSCO is responsible for maintaining and increasing market share by effectively satisfying customer needs and coordinating service across various departments. This role involves developing strong relationships with customers, managing daily tasks related to order processing, and supporting sales objectives through effective communication and product knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Identify customer and department needs and satisfy them effectively.
  • Maintain and develop assigned customer base.
  • Drive penetration of existing accounts through product knowledge.
  • Cross-train and foster solid working relationships within the department and with other departments.
  • Input orders into the computer system.
  • Sell major product categories via telephone and other media.
  • Create and maintain necessary company and customer files.
  • Manage daily tasks and reports related to order processing, shipments, and deliveries.
  • Support company sales and gross profit projections and goals.
  • Adhere to operational procedures and attend scheduled meetings.
  • Work with the sales team and advance education on products and industry.
  • Participate in department sales meetings and other activities as requested.
  • Work different days, hours, and overtime as needed.
  • Adhere to GMP and SQF policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of one year experience in sales and/or customer service preferred.
  • Specialty food, specialty business, and/or culinary experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong numeric and alpha-numeric data entry skills.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively in a positive manner both verbally and in writing.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, effectiveness, and efficiency.

  • Knowledge of sales techniques and marketing principles.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and analyze written information.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
