About the position

The Customs Operations Specialist at DHL Global Forwarding is responsible for managing customs entry documentation and ensuring compliance with customs regulations. This role is crucial in facilitating the smooth flow of goods across borders, thereby supporting the company's logistics operations. The specialist will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure timely customs clearance and maintain accurate records.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review customs documentation, including import and export declarations, commercial invoices, packing lists, and other required customs paperwork.
• Coordinate and oversee customs clearance processes, including classification, valuation, and duty/tax determination.
• Determine the correct tariff classification of goods based on their characteristics and composition.
• Ensure compliance with customs laws, regulations, and procedures by staying up-to-date with changes in customs requirements.
• Maintain effective communication and collaboration with internal stakeholders to gather necessary information and resolve customs-related issues.
• Identify and assess potential customs compliance risks, and develop and implement mitigation strategies.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and efficiency gains in customs operations.

Requirements

• Experience in customs operations, customs brokerage, or trade compliance within the logistics or supply chain industry preferred.
• Proficiency in all Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate customs regulations and resolve customs-related issues.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams, customs authorities, and external partners.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
