About the position

Peraton is seeking a Cyber Systems Administration Advisor to manage and resolve user issues, coordinate with team members, and oversee critical data backups. The role involves patching and maintenance tasks, ensuring security software is up-to-date, and documenting changes for knowledge sharing. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in systems administration and a strong technical background.

Responsibilities

  • Triage and review tickets submitted via Jira Service Desk
  • Work tickets as necessary to resolve user issues as soon as possible
  • Coordinate with other team members or organizations to hand-off and coordinate resolution of issues
  • Head-up patching and other after-hours maintenance tasks when necessary (usually only 1-2 times per month, may be more depending on mission needs)
  • Set up and manage backups of critical data
  • Limited networking configuration and management
  • Ensure security software is configured correctly and up-to-date
  • Resolve issues reported by users and other stakeholders
  • Write documentation to facilitate knowledge sharing between team members, reduce siloing, and minimize bus/lottery factor
  • Write proposals of changes to be reviewed by technical and/or government leadership
  • Write documentation of changes and fixes in tickets and internal wiki (Confluence) to allow repeat issues to be resolved quickly in the future

Requirements

  • Ten (10) years experience as a Systems Administrator in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university or (5) years of additional Systems Administrator experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree
  • TS/SCI with polygraph
  • DOD 8570 Required, preferably Security +
  • Ability to think quickly and create solutions to resolve issues quickly
  • Strong Linux or Windows administration background, with some knowledge of both
  • Experience managing authentication tools like Active Directory, SSSD, KeyCloak, etc.
  • Experience working with virtualized systems in on-prem and cloud environments
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools like Ansible and Terraform
  • Scripting experience with PowerShell, Bash, or other languages
  • General understanding of networking concepts and configuration
  • Experience with Atlassian tools like Jira and Confluence for task / knowledge management
