About the position

The Community College of Baltimore County is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable individual to join the faculty as a Cybersecurity and Forensics instructor within the Networking Department of the School of Business, Technology, and Law. This full-time position requires the successful candidate to teach a variety of courses related to cybersecurity and digital forensics across multiple semesters, including Fall, Spring, and Summer. The role encompasses not only classroom instruction but also significant involvement in college and community service, student advising, departmental support, and ongoing professional development. Candidates should be prepared to teach at various campuses and may have classes scheduled during days, evenings, or weekends. The ideal candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm for the subject matter and pedagogy, employing best teaching practices to foster hands-on learning experiences for students. In this role, faculty members will be responsible for developing and delivering clear and effective instruction, utilizing both traditional and technology-based teaching methods. They will be expected to maintain organized instructional materials and provide timely feedback to students on their assessments. Effective communication with students is crucial, including the dissemination of academic information and prompt responses to inquiries. Faculty will also be required to conduct office hours, provide program-related advising, and collaborate with colleagues on curricular development and assessment practices. Participation in departmental and college meetings, as well as community service initiatives, is also a key component of this position. Continuous professional development and maintaining industry certifications are essential to ensure that faculty remain current in their field and can provide the best educational experience for students.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a variety of cybersecurity and digital forensics courses in the Networking Department.
  • Develop and provide clear and effective instruction using traditional and technology-based methods.
  • Meet all assigned classes during instructional periods, including days, evenings, or weekends.
  • Communicate effectively with students regarding academic information, syllabi, and policies.
  • Provide program-related student advising and conduct required office hours.
  • Maintain the Learning Management System (e.g., Brightspace) for student access to course materials.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curricular development and assessment practices.
  • Attend and participate in committee, departmental, College, and School meetings.
  • Engage in college and community service initiatives.
  • Maintain and develop professional expertise through ongoing professional development.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Cybersecurity or a related field is required.
  • Two years of related industry experience in cybersecurity or digital forensics.
  • Two years of full-time college-level teaching experience in the discipline or four years of adjunct instruction.
  • Online teaching experience is preferred.
