About the position

The Electrical Component Engineer position at General Dynamics Electric Boat involves developing engineered components for submarine applications. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including Navy personnel and outside suppliers, to ensure the successful design and implementation of electrical components such as hull penetrators and cable assemblies. The engineer will manage technical requirements, oversee supplier projects, and support documentation and design processes.

Responsibilities

  • Development of technical requirements for electrical components
  • Supplier oversight and project management
  • Review of drawings and technical documentation including procedures and specifications
  • Leading meetings and presentations related to projects
  • Managing system and component interfaces including electrical and mechanical aspects
  • Supporting the development of technical documentation such as manuals and specifications
  • Overseeing vendor design development, manufacturing, testing, and qualification
  • Obtaining customer approval of designs and requirements via formal correspondence
  • Providing construction engineering support on-site in shipyards as required

Requirements

  • Bachelor of science degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Marine, Civil, or related technical degree
  • Ability to obtain a minimum of Secret security clearance
