About the position

The Ravn Alaska Direct Entry Captain is a critical role responsible for the safe operation of company aircraft in accordance with established regulations and company policies. This position requires a high level of accountability, as the Captain is responsible for the safety of all crewmembers, passengers, and cargo on board when the aircraft doors are closed. The Captain reports directly to the Chief Pilot and is expected to ensure that each flight operation is conducted safely and efficiently. In this role, the Captain must uphold safety standards by ensuring that all work is performed in compliance with the Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs) and the company's operational manuals. This includes conducting thorough exterior aircraft inspections before each flight and maintaining a strong safety-focused environment by encouraging input from crewmembers and dispatch personnel. The Captain is also responsible for promoting Crew Resource Management (CRM) principles, ensuring effective communication among all personnel during active duty periods. Additionally, the Captain may assume various responsibilities at outstations, such as fueling, bag handling, cargo handling, and deicing, as part of a commitment to teamwork. The role requires the Captain to engage in courteous interactions with customers and colleagues, handle stressful situations with professionalism, and ensure that all necessary documentation is completed accurately. The Captain must also maintain the aircraft's airworthiness and reliability throughout its operations, ensuring that all required systems and components are in place before each flight.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate company aircraft according to regulations and established policies.
  • Accept responsibility for the safety of all crewmembers, passengers, and cargo on board.
  • Uphold safety by ensuring compliance with the Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs) and company manuals.
  • Conduct thorough exterior aircraft inspections before each flight.
  • Encourage input from crewmembers and dispatch personnel regarding safe aircraft operations.
  • Promote Crew Resource Management (CRM) through effective communication during active duty periods.
  • Assume responsibility for tasks at outstations, including fueling and cargo handling, when trained.
  • Engage in courteous interactions with customers and colleagues.
  • Handle stressful situations professionally and calmly.
  • Complete all necessary documentation thoroughly and accurately.

Requirements

  • Must possess all current ratings to operate commercial aircraft for a Part 121 operation, including an Airline Transport Pilot certificate.
  • Must have a total of 2500 hours in a fixed-wing aircraft, with 1000 hours of multi-engine turbine flight time.
  • Must have at least 1000 hours of air carrier experience as defined by FAR 121.436.
  • Must have a valid First-Class Medical certificate.
  • Must provide an Instrument Proficiency Check (IPC) prior to hire date.
  • Must not have an FAA Certificate Action or Administrative Action record within the prior 24 months.
  • Must have a valid Passport and the ability to travel internationally without restrictions.
  • Must be fluent in English and communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to fulfill physical requirements, including lifting and maneuvering up to 65 lbs.
  • Must be able to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to work in all types of weather, including extreme temperatures.
  • Must have strong safety awareness and knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS).
  • Must pass a comprehensive background check and pre-employment DOT drug screen.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
