About the position
The Data Analytics Software Engineer for the Merchant Solutions Technology reports into the Chief Operating Officer. This individual plays a hybrid role in data reporting and analysis as well as the definition of data management related strategies. As a member of the team you will partner with the COO team and stakeholders across the technology organization to build dashboards using PowerBI and Snowflake technologies, analyze data and provide data architecture related expertise in a variety of projects and initiatives. You will be working in an Agile environment as part of the Reporting and Analytics team, delivering software solutions utilized by internal customers. The candidate should have a passion for data, reporting and analysis, and be very detailed oriented in maintaining design and quality standards. This position will require structured development process and close collaboration with your delivery team, product owners and managers. A successful candidate will be self-motivated, work well in a team environment, and have an ability to learn new technologies. Responsible for designing and implementing information systems which will adequately support the infrastructure of the organization. Analyzes system requirements and ensures that systems will offer security, stability and will be effectively integrated with current applications. Has thorough knowledge of data and business intelligence tools, methodologies and related infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the vision and strategy for the Analytics program and develop an engagement model to support each functional area of the technology and operations organization.
- Collaborate across all functional areas to translate business problems into optimal data modeling and analytical solutions that drive business value.
- Collaborate with internal teams to source, transform, analyze and visualize various data sets to provide a consolidated data platform to support the technology and operations organization awareness and decision making at an executive level as well as at individual user level.
- Contribute to the improvements and advancement of reporting and data capabilities across the organization, including analytics skills, data visualization, insights and storytelling.
- Responsible for influencing projects/initiatives and making decisions related to data including data quality, data architecture and data management best practices.
- Provide expert dashboarding, data modeling and data validation services that produce flexible, extensible data structure design solutions that support analysis, reporting and effective business decisions.
- Create and manage an array of data design deliverables including data models, data diagrams, data flows and corresponding data dictionary documentation.
- Contribute to the improvement and creation of standards for dashboard development and solutions, database design and overall data architecture to leverage our data in strategic and innovative ways.
- Assist in leading the development and implementation of various strategic data architecture initiatives around master data management, data quality, data management policies/standards, data governance, and metadata management.
- Support analysts in requirements development, research and verification.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in data analysis and reporting, data architecture principles, methods, techniques and technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to define and execute deliverables on time and in budget.
- Proven background of designing and implementing data solutions which solve strategic and tactical business needs.
- Strong understanding of Analytics and Visualization tools and techniques.
- Deep knowledge of best practices through relevant experience across data-related disciplines and technologies, Including, data management, data governance and data warehousing.
- Solid understanding of Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse technologies (e.g., SAS, R, Python, Power BI, snowflake, Oracle).
- Strong aptitude to learn business processes/products and the role of data within the business domain.
- Self-motivated, have strong work ethic to drive solutions, push through challenges and deliver results.
- Must be an analyst at heart and have a proven track record of being a thinker and a doer.
