Data Center Critical Environment Technician

About the position

As a Critical Environment Technician (CET) in Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team, you will help to maintain the critical infrastructure that keeps our datacenters up and running. This could be anything from performing basic monitoring and inspection, performing various types of maintenance, participating in equipment troubleshooting, enforcing all safety and security requirements, and developing methods of operating procedures (MOPs) and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. As a CO+I Critical Environment Technician, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. Responsibilities

• Perform basic monitoring and inspection of datacenter infrastructure.
• Conduct various types of maintenance and repairs on equipment.
• Participate in equipment troubleshooting and enforce safety and security requirements.
• Develop methods of operating procedures (MOPs) and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Monitor physical inspection of critical environment-related facility equipment.
• Utilize internal computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to track equipment assets.
• Respond to and stabilize abnormal conditions within required timeframes.
• Perform troubleshooting of equipment and systems independently.
• Provide necessary escort to third-party contractors and vendors on site.
• Prepare and submit required reports and develop procedural documentation.

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent AND work/applied learning experience in mechanical, military, nuclear propulsion, manufacturing, automotive, electrical, controls, power generators, data center, or related fields.
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including non-standard business hours.

Nice-to-haves

• 1+ year(s) technical services experience in high-availability assembly/manufacturing/critical infrastructure environments.
• Associate's degree or technical trade certification.
