About the position

As a Data Center Facility Operations Manager at Amazon Data Services, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the critical physical infrastructure of our data centers. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain high availability and performance of the data center while ensuring that all work performed within the site meets high-quality standards without impacting internal or external customers. You will be tasked with managing teams of engineering technicians who operate 24/7, prioritizing and assigning tasks, managing projects, and coaching staff on best practices related to service owner issues. Your role will also involve effectively managing the operations budget and expenditures, engaging in improvement projects, and coordinating with third-party vendors to ensure adherence to contracted service level agreements (SLAs). In addition to these responsibilities, you will be the second level escalation point for facilities-related issues and will oversee the operation and management of routine and emergency services on critical systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS systems, and cooling equipment. Safety is paramount in this role, and you will ensure that all safety procedures are adhered to while performing work. You will also be responsible for testing the quality, performance, safety, and reliability of products, equipment, and processes. The physical demands of the job include walking on uneven terrain, lifting and moving weights, and performing construction tasks while maintaining balance on ladders. You will need to coordinate body movements when using tools or equipment and perform extended site rounds that may involve long distances of walking. Working at AWS means being part of a diverse team that values innovation and collaboration. You will work alongside software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, and security experts to deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.
