As a Data Center Technician, you are a primary resolver for your support team, and are skilled at troubleshooting one or more operating systems. You are able to troubleshoot and solve all but the most complex infrastructure issues. Issues are escalated to the appropriate resolver groups when necessary. You create and maintain documentation on technologies you support and are able to convey SOPs to junior staff. You understand all aspects of the equipment you support. You know how to innovate and make decisions on his/her own, but also know how to take direction when it is given, paying attention to all details involved. You are able to execute small projects on your own and work with your manager in planning and executing larger local projects. You act as an escalation point for junior technicians. You understand all aspects of the equipment you support. Position may include rotating shifts, 3, 4, or 5 day/night work weeks, and may change based on the needs of the business. Travel may be required up to 10% of the time. This position will fill an opening at one of multiple separate sites.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and solve infrastructure issues.
• Create and maintain documentation on technologies supported.
• Convey SOPs to junior staff.
• Execute small projects independently.
• Assist manager in planning and executing larger local projects.
• Act as an escalation point for junior technicians.

Requirements

• Associate's degree or higher in IT-related field, applicable certifications, and equivalent professional or military experience.
• 2+ years of Computer Hardware experience.
• 2+ years of experience with technical troubleshooting and remediation.
• Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret or above.

Nice-to-haves

• Networking experience with CCNA and/or Network+ certifications.
• Experience with CISCO, Juniper and other commodity networking devices.
• Experience working in a Data Center environment: racking & stacking equipment, cable management.
• Familiarity with IT Hardware and concepts such as RAID, SAN, x86 Architecture, SCSI, Linux Administration, Command Line Interface, Boot Process, GRUB/LILO, File Systems, Network device and protocol configuration, Directory Structure, Performance Management/Troubleshooting, Base Operating System Install, Scripting: Perl, Python, Bash, Core OS Services: ssh, telnet, ftp, nfs, dns, dhcp, samba, ldap, cvs Networking, Protocols, OSI Model, Copper and Fiber Optic Testing and Cabling Standards.
