About the position

World Wide Technology (WWT) is seeking a Data Center Technician for the 3rd shift, working from 7 PM to 5 AM CT on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The Data Center Technician will be responsible for following detailed plans and instructions, installing and relocating network hardware, managing network ports, and ensuring compliance with data center standards.

Responsibilities

Following detailed plans and instructions as directed by management
Installing/de-installing/relocating all distributed systems and network hardware in the Americas Data Centers
Installing/de-installing/extending/relocating/testing all carrier circuits to the network hardware
Installing/de-installing/relocating all patch cabling for systems and network hardware
Installing/de-installing/relocating all Data Center hardware
Assisting with the coordination of cabinet power, circuit, and patch infrastructure installations with various vendors
Assisting with the coordination of network component configurations
Coordinating and installing SAN cabling infrastructure
Managing network ports and consumable items
Maintaining the integrity of the data center facilities and systems
Ensuring compliance with data center standards and policies
Coordinating activities in support of all projects and technical requests
Providing clear and detailed turnover to next shift workers
Ensuring destruction procedures are followed
Supporting site and application specific disaster recovery tests
Assisting in supporting reconciliation and QA efforts

Requirements

2+ years of experience in the implementation, maintenance, and analysis of data center facilities and hardware
Basic background on enterprise data center facilities and infrastructure environments
In-depth knowledge of complex, Enterprise class inter-networked environments
Strong knowledge of WAN technologies, subnetting, and TCP/IP protocol
Excellent communication and writing skills
Knowledge of trouble ticketing systems, change control, and project processes
Logical problem-solving techniques and experience in system and telecommunications
Financial Services industry knowledge is a plus
