Data Center Technician- L3/L4

About the position

Microsoft is looking to swap out their GPUs and perform server breakfix tasks. Responsible for swapping out and deploying GPU for increased AI capabilities. Prepares, stages, sets up, and performs startups and shutdowns (e.g., racks, hard drives, switches) according to specific instructions, checklists, guides, standard protocols, and emails. Performs post-execution quality checks and verifies that grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling are set up properly according to safety protocols, deployment standards, and planned Network Design Tasks (NDTs). Performs diagnostics and troubleshooting following standard procedures, quickly identifies the cause(s) of issues, and replaces faulty components. Decommissions hardware for simple changes and refreshes (e.g., memory upgrades, OS rebuilds) following standard procedures with minimal guidance. Follows procedures to communicate, report, and escalate incidents to appropriate Datacenter Technician Leads. Follows procedures for preparing, installing, performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, replacing, and/or decommissioning equipment with guidance from Datacenter Technician Leads. Prepares, stages, sets up, and performs basic startups and shutdowns for hardware following written instructions, checklists, guides, standard procedures, and with guidance from Datacenter Technician Leads. Physical audits of datacenter assets. Microsoft is in Hypergrowth mode which makes it an exciting time to join. Just on the westside valley alone, Microsoft plans to build 2-3 data centers per year for the next five years and triple in size. With that growth comes a lot of opportunity and potential upward mobility. Microsoft's top priority and highest visibility project across the country. Microsoft is taking on GPU deployments across the country to continue to implement AI Servers and increase their AI capabilities for their customers that use Azure. Great chance to go FTE.

Responsibilities

• Swap out and deploy GPU for increased AI capabilities.
• Prepare, stage, set up, and perform startups and shutdowns for hardware.
• Perform post-execution quality checks and verify setup according to safety protocols.
• Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting to identify and replace faulty components.
• Decommission hardware for simple changes and refreshes.
• Communicate, report, and escalate incidents to appropriate Datacenter Technician Leads.
• Follow procedures for preparing, installing, performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, and decommissioning equipment.
• Conduct physical audits of datacenter assets.

Requirements

• Experience in hardware setup and troubleshooting.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and standard procedures.
• Familiarity with data center operations and safety protocols.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with GPU deployments.
• Knowledge of AI server implementations.
