About the position

We are seeking a skilled and physically capable Data Contractor to assist with the removal of network switches, routers, UPS units, and related cabling in a data center or network environment. The contractor will be responsible for safely un-racking and decommissioning equipment, unplugging copper and fiber patch cables, and handling physical tasks, including the use of handheld drills for unmounting hardware.

Responsibilities

• Safely un-rack network switches, routers, and UPS units from server racks and equipment cabinets.
• Accurately unplug copper and fiber patch cables from network devices while maintaining the integrity of the connections.
• Safely lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs during the un-racking and relocation process.
• Competently use handheld drills and other basic tools for unmounting devices from racks and equipment cabinets.
• Maintain accurate records of the un-racking and decommissioning process, ensuring all steps are properly documented.
• Adhere to all safety guidelines for handling network equipment, cables, and power supplies to prevent damage and ensure safety.

Requirements

• Experience working in a data center or with network equipment (switches, routers, UPS units).
• Familiarity with copper and fiber patch cables and proper handling techniques.
• Ability to use handheld drills and basic tools for un-racking and decommissioning hardware.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Physically able to lift and carry items up to 50 lbs.
• Knowledge of safety protocols when working with power and network equipment.
