About the position
The Data Engineer role at Amazon Robotics focuses on developing and implementing data engineering and business intelligence applications to support automation products in fulfillment centers. The position requires a self-driven individual with strong business acumen and communication skills to collaborate with business owners and define key business questions. The engineer will also mentor other engineers and contribute to a positive team culture.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and deploy high-quality data solutions that are secure, testable, maintainable, and efficient.
- Identify problems and propose solutions to improve data architecture and operational excellence.
- Design, implement, and support data warehouse/data lake infrastructure using AWS big data stack and other technologies.
- Mentor other engineers and positively influence team culture.
Requirements
- 3+ years of data engineering experience
- 2+ years of experience analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL, etc.
- Knowledge of distributed systems related to data storage and computing
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
- Experience delivering end-to-end projects independently
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, or Ruby
- Experience with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL, etc.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions
- Experience with non-relational databases/data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases)
- Experience building and operating highly available, distributed systems for data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets.
