About the position

The Data Engineer (Software Engineer III) will focus on designing, implementing, and optimizing database systems for efficient data management. This role is crucial as the company transitions from legacy platforms to modern technologies like Power BI and Snowflake, aiming to enhance data infrastructure and analytics capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Agile Program Manager, Digital Product Manager, and Business Systems Analyst to capture stakeholder requests and translate them into engineering artifacts.
  • Coordinate with software architects and senior engineers to ensure compliance with Enterprise Architecture principles and best practices.
  • Complete software development tasks including application design, coding, code review, and testing as part of Agile teams.
  • Provide suggestions to stakeholders for effective project and program execution.
  • Manage engineering risks by tracking issues and devising mitigation strategies.
  • Liaise with other project areas to coordinate interdependencies and resolve issues.
  • Support business units in resolving user questions and issues following production support processes.
  • Maintain knowledge of new technology and software engineering standards.
  • Provide input for Product Roadmap and High Level Estimates.
  • Collaborate with IT management to develop documentation and engineering artifact standards.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of data warehouse concepts and modeling approaches like DVM and Kimball.
  • Experience in cloud data architecture supporting advanced analytics, particularly with Snowflake and Azure.
  • 5-7 years of experience in developing reports, preferably using Power BI.
  • 5-7 years of experience in ETL using SSIS or similar technologies.
  • Strong SQL knowledge and hands-on experience with structured and semi-structured databases like SQL Server, DB2, and MongoDB.
  • Hands-on experience in administering Cognos and Power BI.
  • Hands-on experience in DataOps.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills for end-user support.
  • Knowledge of production support processes such as incident and problem management.
