About the position

The Data Governance Foundation Group Manager, SVP is a strategic professional responsible for overseeing, monitoring, and reporting on data-related controls within the HR function, which includes Data Quality and Governance, Data Privacy, and Data Management. This role is crucial in ensuring that HR data practices comply with and align with Citi's Enterprise policies, operating under a well-defined and articulated framework to successfully execute on data requirements and obligations. The position requires a keen understanding of the latest trends in the field, adapting them for application within the HR function. The role necessitates excellent communication skills to negotiate internally, often at a senior level, and developed communication and diplomacy skills to guide, influence, and convince others, particularly colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers. The individual in this position is accountable for significant direct business results or authoritative advice regarding the operations of the business, necessitating a degree of responsibility over technical strategy. The role primarily affects a sub-function and includes handling staff management issues, resource management, and allocation of work within the team or project. Key responsibilities include working with management on governance and facilitating the execution of the Manager Control Assessment (MCA), ensuring the quality and accuracy of the Control Framework, and partnering with control and process owners to recommend corrective actions. The manager will also direct teams in implementing the Lessons Learned Policy, support management in reviewing control designs, and assess adherence to the MCA Standard. Additionally, the role involves identifying and managing risk exposures across various categories, ensuring adequate governance and training, and guiding standards and procedures that conform to enterprise requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Management on governance and the facilitation of the execution of the Manager Control Assessment (MCA).
  • Accountable for the quality, completeness, and accuracy of the implementation of the Control Framework.
  • Ensure the identification of issue root cause, partnering with control and process owners to recommend corrective actions.
  • Direct teams in the implementation of the Lessons Learned Policy, including monitoring of control breaches.
  • Support management in the review and challenge process on the effective design and management of controls.
  • Direct teams on the timeliness, accuracy, and completeness of the MCA through controls prior to the execution of a process.
  • Assess adherence to the MCA Standard through controls after the execution of a process.
  • Assist management in exercising control over Operational and Compliance Risk.
  • Help management allocate resources to identify, assess, escalate, and manage risk exposures.
  • Assess Risk Appetite and monitor exposures against this in accordance with enterprise requirements.
  • Take ownership to identify, assess, record, and respond to Operational and Compliance Risk events.
  • Responsible for adequate governance and training to support management of Risk profiles.
  • Assess risks associated with New Activities and changes to the Business.
  • Support management on operational risk scenario analysis and stress testing for Operational Risk Capital requirements.
  • Ensure risk and control responsibilities are embedded within FLUs, providing training and leading by example.
  • Assist management in guiding and influencing standards and procedures that conform to enterprise requirements.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in risk management or related field.
  • Familiarity with risk models.
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in metrics development, senior-level summaries through PPT, and development of procedures and guidelines.
  • Ability to define execution plans, testing models, monitoring, and reporting.
