About the position

The Data Governance Lead is responsible for establishing a comprehensive data governance framework and driving data management practices that align with the organization's strategic objectives. This role requires a strategic thinker with expertise in data management and governance, capable of collaborating with business and technology leaders to protect and validate critical data assets while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a data governance framework, including policies, standards, and procedures.
• Define data classification schemes, ownership models, and lifecycle management practices.
• Establish data quality standards, metrics, and monitoring mechanisms.
• Collaborate with data owners to identify and resolve data quality issues.
• Develop and enforce data security and privacy policies and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Implement metadata management processes to maintain data lineage and definitions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define governance roles and promote data stewardship.
• Provide training and guidance on data governance principles and best practices.
• Establish mechanisms for governance oversight and compliance monitoring.
• Oversee the implementation of data governance tools and technologies.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in data governance, data management, or related roles.
• A minimum of 4 years of experience in data governance or management, with at least 1 year in coaching junior resources.
• Strong understanding of data governance principles and frameworks.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to data privacy and security.
• Certification in data governance or related areas is a plus.
• Proficiency in data management tools and technologies.
• Strong understanding of the insurance industry is a plus.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
