About the position

The Data Governance Lead is a remote position responsible for developing and implementing data governance policies and procedures within a FinTech environment. This role focuses on ensuring robust management of the enterprise data lifecycle, enhancing data quality, protection, compliance, and value. The position requires strategic thinking and expertise in data governance frameworks and global data privacy regulations, with a significant emphasis on change management to foster a data governance culture across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive data governance framework and strategy that aligns with company objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish and govern an enterprise data governance implementation roadmap, prioritizing the development of information-based capabilities.
  • Create and enforce policies, standards, and procedures to ensure data accuracy, quality, and integrity across the organization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data governance practices into data systems and processes.
  • Define roles and responsibilities related to data governance and ensure clear accountability for data stewardship activities.
  • Manage and oversee the maintenance of data models, data catalog, and metadata management to facilitate data quality, consistency, and usability.
  • Partner with information security to support data-related risk assessments and ensure compliance with global data privacy laws, including GDPR.
  • Work with the legal department to establish and maintain data usage guidelines, data sharing agreements, and data-related policies.
  • Lead organizational change management to embed a data governance culture across the company.
  • Participate in enterprise initiatives and acquisition integration efforts to ensure that data-related activities are properly identified and prioritized.
  • Monitor and report on data governance metrics and KPIs to evaluate the effectiveness of data management efforts.
  • Facilitate data governance committees and working groups to ensure cross-functional alignment and decision-making.
  • Stay informed of industry trends and advancements in data governance and management technologies.
