The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is seeking a Data Governance Program Lead for a full-time position within our Data Management/Data Analytics group located in Richmond, Virginia. This role is pivotal in providing expertise and technical leadership across data management principles, with a particular emphasis on data governance. The individual in this position will be responsible for enabling data-centric decision-making and process support across all business units, focusing on data governance tools and techniques that align with the agency's data strategy. The Data Governance Program Lead will assist the Data Analytics Director and the Data Management Assistant Commissioner, working closely with management and agency staff to manage and oversee the Data Governance Program. Key responsibilities include implementing and maintaining data governance policies and processes, presenting recommendations for data quality initiatives proposed by data governance council members, facilitating routine data activity meetings, and resolving data issues. Additionally, the role involves reviewing new policies, enhancing data practices, and advocating for data governance while expanding educational and awareness efforts agency-wide. The Virginia DMV serves approximately 6.2 million licensed drivers and ID card holders, with over 8.4 million registered vehicles. The agency also supports a wide array of businesses, including dealers, fuels tax customers, rental companies, driving schools, other state agencies, local governments, and non-profit organizations.
