About The Position

The Data Owner position at a global bank in Irving, TX, is a contract role focused on managing data for a specific product, function, process, or country. The role involves ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies while implementing data strategies and architectures. The Data Owner will influence senior leaders to treat data as a strategic asset and will work in a hybrid environment, requiring 2-3 days onsite per week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • 10+ years of experience in banking and financial services, information technology, and/or data governance.
  • Understanding of Data Management, including Data Lineage, Metadata, Data Quality, and Issue Management.
  • Experience with large data initiatives and aligning business processes with data.
  • Knowledge of data management processes and tools, including process mapping and lineage toolsets.
  • Strong knowledge of structured/unstructured databases and data governance tools.
  • Demonstrated relationship management and advisory skills with stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of data governance issues and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience managing data initiatives including analysis, planning, and execution.
  • Ability to lead efforts to solve data flow/design issues with cross-functional teams.
  • Coaching or mentoring experience with team members.
  • Good presentation, business writing, and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team and maintain adequate staffing requirements to meet operational needs.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders across lines of business and functions to ensure development & execution of suitable tools for efficient operating models.
  • Identify end-to-end data flow, including upstream areas that create and/or consume Authoritative Data Sources.
  • Understand business/function processes to provide insights into end-to-end data flows and critical data elements.
  • Partner with Data Stewards to drive end-to-end management and consistent usage of data.
  • Lead the direction, coordination, implementation, and control of data requirements and standards.
  • Align key data capabilities with data and system process flows.
  • Remediate Data Concerns, including monitoring fixes for data defects and issues.
  • Create effective presentations for various audience types.
  • Manage and execute strategic design and process improvement projects.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to implement processes and technologies for successful data deployment.
  • Lead meetings to solve issues and communicate potential risks and plans to mitigate them.
  • Prepare and present status updates and solutions to stakeholders in a succinct manner.
  • Monitor metrics and key performance indicators associated with Data Quality and Controls.
